In fact they’re falling in love until it turns out that Jake “Brock” in an undercover DEA agent and Tess’ ex-husband is the one under investigation. The first part of this book is great; it’s sweet and sexy. Then the last part is all about family drama, exes and lots and lots of cake.Brock ‘Slim’ Brock did not hide his moods. Ever. Not ever in the beginning. And jake had a lot of moods. If he was pissed, you knew he was pissed. If he was happy, you definitely knew he was happy. If he was feeling playful, annoyed, frustrated, amused, distracted, content, whatever, you knew it, you sensed it; it was like he controlled the atmosphere of the room.Being with Brock was like the ride I once took on a mechanical bull. You could not even begin to guess which way that thing would buck. All you could do was hold on tight as you could and enjoy the ride as long as you had it.This is why I love Tess:…I looked in the mirror, examined myself and came to the uneasy knowledge that I had no fucking clue who I was, no clue where I was going and no clue who I wanted to be.
